Prolymphocytes
Prolymphocytes are immature-appearing lymphoid cells that are not normally present in meaningful numbers in the peripheral blood. In healthy individuals, the expected level is essentially none.
When prolymphocytes are identified, especially in the setting of lymphocytosis, they raise concern for lymphoid malignancy rather than routine physiologic variation. Their significance depends on the percentage present and the broader blood picture, but they are not considered an optimization marker. In practical terms, this is a morphology finding that usually warrants hematologic interpretation rather than lifestyle-based action.
