Immature Granulocytes (absolute and %)
Immature granulocytes (IGs) are very early white blood cell precursors that normally stay in the bone marrow. In healthy adults, they are absent or present only in trace amounts, typically under ~0.5–0.9%, with a very low absolute count depending on the lab. When elevated, they suggest increased bone marrow output, most often from infection, inflammation, physiologic stress, or, less commonly, hematologic disease.
