Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC)
Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC) reflects how concentrated hemoglobin is each red blood cell. In healthy individuals, it typically falls between 32–36 g/dL. Clinically, it is most useful for characterizing anemia rather than serving as a standalone optimization marker. Low MCHC suggests less hemoglobin per cell—most commonly seen in iron deficiency or thalassemia—while higher values are less common and may point to structural red cell abnormalities.
